then they would sit around me like I was a radio station telling the story about my dream because I was able to go through 10 15 minutes a very very Vivid dream that I would remember it was it was quite incredible I don’t know anyone who takes it and gets has and is telling me about their goofy dreams I want to start something that’s why but I’m not flying like Superman I’m like standing there going up and moving around but and then I kind of said I wonder if this is a and I was awake a dream recorders today we have my good friend Jim who is going to share his dream and experience so hello Jim how are you I’m good Sophie good to see you again to see you and do you dream Jim yeah you had asked me this and I was like well that’s an interesting question yeah I would say I I dream often and like wow I don’t uh sometimes I wake up and I have that dream hanging there and then it’s gone you know those kind of things I do have I do have that yeah you need you need to write it down straight away right right right what happens is then you build that muscle memory right I do have a um you know you you’d originally asked me this a while ago and I uh I found completely by accident when I was up in the mountains in Montana in the United States uh I we were out hiking doing a bunch of stuff my leg hurt so bad and uh so I I went into my first aid kit and I had some Aleve which is an over-the-counter medication uh and I didn’t realize it but the next morning I’m just thinking about my dream I mean it it was Vivid I remembered it um so much so that after about three or four days up in the mountains the I realized this was happening and I started thinking I bet it’s because of the leave I don’t know if it’s because of the low uh higher altitude but we would wake up in the morning and the guys that I was with they were like no no don’t tell us don’t tell us anything and they would go and they would get like their breakfast ready and then they would sit around me like I was a radio station telling the story about my dream because I was able to go through 10 15 minutes a very very Vivid dream that I would remember it was it was quite incredible and then since then pardon me yes out of the plan yeah yeah wow it I it went so even now when I’m I’m back at home I’m not up in the mountains uh I I take a leave and at night I do have dreams I can remember the dreams uh I can go in a lot of detail with them um but when I’m up in the mountains I think it’s a combination of the lower oxygen I don’t I don’t know I’m making this stuff up and they leave it’s like a super dream memory it’s really it’s really kind of cool and what specifically were there any themes or anything

I’m tins no um we would have I would have dreams in which there was one in which I had for some reason owned a giant Victorian Mansion like four stories and I was able to walk people through it and there were hallways between between rooms that are like in the wall and you were able to walk through and you would find this staircase and go up this staircase and I would I still have the picture of what the colors look like uh the rooms how you got the places and a lot of it didn’t make sense uh because all of a sudden you’re in a snowstorm walking around and I have no idea why that was but it was just part of the dream yeah uh one of the funnier ones is I was dreaming that I was back at an old company that I used to work for yeah and I went down into I opened up the big oak doors this building doesn’t have big oak doors I went downstairs there didn’t have downstairs um I get down there and it’s a big shipping area and cars are going by and trucks are delivering and I start walking across the street and the facilities managers on the other end and she says whoa wait hold up hold up hold up Jim don’t come through this is where dreams get weird walking across the road were a bunch of ducks I hate it down in the shipping center and uh I had told her I said hey I’ve got a duck hat on and in my mind I had a uh a crocheted duck hat the uh the wings were like they tied down around your ears and I go I’ll show you it and I’m going like this and someone in the room says what are you doing and it was in real life and I opened my eyes and I look and I’m they’re looking at me and I’m like I’m taking off my duck hat I mean it was I still remember that one to to this day because it was so crazy Vivid but other than that if you know if you’re not taking a leave I’m my dream is just fade right away so I know the whole duck hat is really weird what is this leaf just leave forward again a leave uh a-l-e-v-e-e it’s a I think that’s how you pronounce it

yeah a-l-e-v-e it’s just a um it’s like a like if you were taking acetaminophen or uh some other pain reliever it’s just a different type of pain reliever okay

well I know other people take it and they don’t have this effect I don’t know anyone who takes it and gets has and is telling me about their goofy dreams I want to start something I don’t want to start something here uh not even Advocate it’s just it’s just a weird thing when I if I’ve taken a leave that day um I know that’s gonna be a weird dream in the morning but you’ll quite like bigger picture aren’t you so you’re like massively into your astrophotography astrophotography but I’ve had no dreams about astrophotography I don’t have science dreams um the coolest dreams that I have are ones that I can fly oh okay yeah that is awesome yeah we’re all of a sudden you can stand there and uh I can jump and then I know how to move through and move up and I’ve got them where the dreams where I remember I’m going up and I’m I’m weaving through a tree to get up above the tree and then I’m up above the tree and I can I can fly but I’m not flying like Superman I’m like standing there going up and moving around but it it is that’s kind of cool so I don’t remember if that was with a leave or not you know so when you do those specific ones like that as you’re going through it are you aware that you’re dreaming oh no no idea okay you just you just it’s like a dream and then in the dream you’re able to control it right right and everything makes sense even though you’ve moved from flying to maybe you’re walking somewhere or something else is happening I mean you just kind of move through the dream and everything makes sense but no I have no idea I’ve had a couple in which uh I’ve been doing something and I would say I think I’m in a and before I can finish the thought I’m awake so I must I don’t know what’s going on with that so Toby through those What specifically happens

so the one I can remember I was by a river and um I was walking through by the river and this was this was the specifically it was at the end of a park where I grew up when I was a little tiny kid and I was walking through the river and I looked down in the river which is really wide wasn’t the river it was the creek one of the Creeks off to the side where the creeks and I looked at that and wondered where the river went and then I kind of said I wonder if this is a and I was awake ah okay so as soon as you start to become conscious that you’re within a dream then it wakes you up yeah that’s the only way I can interpret it but it’s it’s weird it seems so quite often when we start to become Lucid within the dream world it’s such a shock to us that those emotions overwhelm us and it jokes you back to the physical yeah yeah so it sounds like you’ve got a natural tendency to be able to become Lucid but because you’ve never controlled um actively controlled your emotion for lucid dreaming that’s why you have that joke because I’ve had that before in the past where I’ve got out of body because I wanted to project outer body and all of a sudden I become aware I’m out of body but I get so excited by it that it’s that pole back in and that’s why the reason why people meditate um in particular if you want to travel out a body or have lucid dreams the meditation allows you to have a calmness in your thought and your emotions so when you do get overwhelmed by something like this you’re able to stay with it and stay calm because when um when I was just sat on my bed meditating one day I in a split of a second was somewhere else I was down this International Interstellar spaceship but not only that my mind changed right and because I had been meditating at that point in my life I was able to be calm and I was like okay I’m somewhere else right now calm so I was able to focus on everything and then that that gives you the strength to stay in that world if you know what I mean um and then I was thinking about me being you know Sophie uh and all of a sudden I saw the history Earth and the spitler for a second because it was so overwhelming I couldn’t control those motions so then I came back so if you were to do you meditate no no so if you were to start meditating and and try to hold the thought and clear your mind if you could hold it for 30 seconds straight so no thoughts coming in next time you have that in dream where you’re like hang on am I in a dream right now emotionally you won’t get overwhelmed and you’ll be able to control it and then you you can go up and you can be like wow look how shiny the leaves and the trees are you know what I mean it would be really cool to be able to control it because flying is probably the neatest the neatest feeling I have to say probably three times in my life I remember yeah you’ve got enough you’re able to fly yeah that was that would have been cool to be able to control that yeah well I think what we should do is if you could did you say at the beginning I can’t remember again sometimes brain like a goldfish did you say that you are writing your dreams down every night or not I am not no we all know okay so I’m gonna challenge you okay I had a feeling there was going to be homework

for three months when you wake up write your dreams down straight away even if it’s one word okay so you wake up a bit of pen paper to start off with write down keywords and then you go back to that at a later date and try to remember you do that daily and you do that for 90 days you’ll build up a strong strong dream recall three months okay three months okay I’ll start tomorrow [Laughter] and I’m gonna attack you every day right right with I should Mark two with which ones were if I had to take a leave it’s only when I’m working when I work really hard out something or something’s not right I just go and I throw that in so I don’t take it often yeah so um and one of the books I made actually I’ve got a lot of different variables to track because obviously you know you’re quite scientific um you start to track things like this and that’s when you start to see the patterns right so like the Leafs and then if it’s maybe it’s some type of food that you ate as well in order to film you’ve got all the different mixtures of it you will start to see a pattern um but I guarantee you if you start becoming actively conscious of your dreams every single day you start to become more lucid okay I it would be neat to do that yeah and now that you’ve brought up for dreams I just keep start thinking about the ones that I do remember and how Wild they are and why I remember them um being able to remember five dreams a night or four dreams a night you know usually you wake up you remember them but by the time you’re out of bed they’re gone yeah and you can’t yeah you kind of feel them out there in the in your brain space somewhere but you can’t you can’t retrieve them but you know something happened and but the more you work on it it’s like going to the gym the stronger you get with that recall and then what you find is you remember them constant and then you can even flip back to ones from years ago yeah that’s why the Buddhist months um they they have this aim where they just meditate all the time because what happens is your brain becomes fully conscious because when I was meditating all the time my brain got to a point where it didn’t switch off

so I would go to sleep but my brain would stay active you know I would continue having a dream so I would have a dream experience or outer body and then come straight back out of that jot it down go straight back into it until it was like five o’clock in the morning then get up so that’s been I remember um when I was in college and I was working on an assignment for a programming assignment yeah um I was getting a constant error I couldn’t figure out how to make this work and so I said I’m just going to bed and I didn’t sleep well I was constantly dreaming about the assignment um and so the next morning I woke up yeah and I was able to I was able to just figure it out right away and I never understood and I don’t know if maybe you just walk away and then you come back with a fresh mind or if somehow subconsciously I I figured out and but that sticks with me I mean that’s been 30 years and I always I still wonder did I figure it out in my sleep or did I just have a fresh mind when I went back to it but I was I did not sleep well that night just constantly going through this programming issue the subconscious would have figured that out it was Nikola Tesla used to take it to an extreme he used to um if he had a problem he wanted to fix he would fall asleep in his chair with something in his hand so as he went into that hit when a drug brick State he would go get the answer in a dream world and then Joe wake up threw it down wow I didn’t know that that’s good and I’ve had dreams where I’ve um because you go through periods in life right and you stop for a bit because you know how it is with the career and everything so I’ve had periods where I was really big into it and I was I had a dream where I solved the equation for simultaneously at system in more than one dimension at once wow it hurts my brain thinking about it but what I hadn’t figured out was how to encode that dream bring it back to this one because I could remember I could remember seeing the Blackboard I could remember everything but what I couldn’t remember was the real detail on the equation now if you get to the point where you’re so trained in the dream stuff that you remember that image you can bring it back you just gotta encode it bring it back to this world and encode it decode it and it can be done and that’s why a lot of people will say in a specially programmers you’ll hear them say I’m not spiritual I don’t believe in any of it however what I do do is I do dream and I have a programming problem and I go to sleep and I wake up in the morning and I know the programming solution oh so you’ve heard this before yeah what I went through wow that’s cool yeah I didn’t know that you’re anything yeah yeah wow yeah that’s kind of cool there is so much Beauty and stuff you can achieve in the dream world there’s knowledge infinite

so that’s something I can’t do I can fly in my dream so that would be great to get back to like going on vacation every night exactly and this is the thing right like how can people get depressed about the world when there’s so much beauty that you can go to into the night why do people need to take drugs why don’t they just get to the point where they’re sleeping and then they just achieve it naturally right right yeah [Music] right yeah so well okay so my my task is I should I need to get a pad of paper right next to my desk somehow set it up so the cats aren’t taking it and knocking it off the counter where I have to look for the look for the pen and then write down and even a single word like yeah even a single word even a picture so I’ve um in a workbook that I created I document this so basically firstly the first so different people think in different ways right some people hear some people say some people feel so you might wake up and you have a image of the color red red and then you start to see things you might wake up to a sound you might wake up to a feeling of being code you know what I mean whatever it is that on that first wake up you your sense jot that down and then only focus on that word so for example if I was to have a dream last night I had a dream of a puzzle right and it had someone else in that dream with me so what I would do so I would wake up and I remember Andreas so I wrote Andreas down I remember puzzles so I wrote puzzle and then I sit there I don’t think of anything else and I just focus on Andreas and puzzle and then I expand on Pursuit okay was it little bits of a puzzle was it this type of puzzle what like and build it out and then um to Andreas I anything I can think related to that um or if you’re visual you might have an image of someone in your mind say Andreas you might I might draw you know just a stick man which represents Andreas and then I expand it upon that and then I draw a little puzzle down by the side you get what I mean yep yep what is your favorite note-taking ability

well and something like this it’s gonna have to be I’m gonna have to do it pen and paper right now because I don’t there’s nothing on my phone that I’m gonna instantly grab and well maybe there is I’d have to look I have to I have never done this portion you know when you first wake up so uh probably the phone would be the best but I have to find something to record it with that’s why I created this app right so that you can go in there you can write your dreams down now what I would say is as a first-time Dreamer knowing you as I know you I would start off with a bit of paper only because if you pick that phone up I think you’re a very visual person like me you’re going to see all the notifications and then what happens in a bit of a second it takes all that memory of the dream world because you’ve got to hold on to that dream world memory so by having a just a bit of paper and a pen your focus is purely on that dream world and then once you’ve built that muscle memory stronger then I would move on to the up okay I’ll do that if we find a pen and paper for 90 days pen and paper before you move on to the app right right I’ll do that
